TV-Recording audio too quiet
From Necowiki
I'm still fighting with my Media Center PC. After playing with many various PVR softwares, I think I'll stick with the Microsoft one untillw e go to poland, then change to GP-PVR, since it has a web interface so I can set recordings from our travels.
After installing maybe 5 different packages the tuner volume died. Waaaayyy too low, had to set the TV volume up to 70-80% to be able to even hear the sound. Apparently quite a few people have had this problem with the ATI Theater 550 cards - low volume. Looking this up online resulted in:
- updated drivers --> no result
- restored the original drive image (I was gona do this anyways) --: no result
- re-installed the PVR i though screwed it up (Beyond TV) --> some result - their default volume was set to 50 so i upd that to 100... an improvement but still not as good as before all this
- finaly someone on some board recomended ffdshow this fixed it!! - there is a volume normalizing check box in their installer, that should be checked ON. Alternatively you can get ffdshow from a codec pack (like k-lite codec pack). Anyways... after this is done make sure to check the Audio Decoder settings so that audio decoding is setup for MP1/MP2 (DVR-MS is MP2 i think no?)
